Amma Grace

(D.K. Weld)

Cork, August 7th

A listed winner and second in a Group 2 last autumn, this filly left a disappointing comeback in early May well behind when running a creditable fourth to La Petite Coco in the Give Thanks Stakes.

She only just lost out in a three-way finish for second and there was enough in this performance to suggest that she will challenge for further stakes-race honours over the next few months.

Pepper Streak

(W. McCreery)

Cork, August 7th

This filly made a solid start to her career when taking fourth in a five-furlong maiden at Cork last Saturday. She was beaten by just over four lengths but shaped well against rivals with previous experience and can be expected to progress from this. A similar event could easily be within her reach over the course of the autumn.

Jack Rose

(E. Lynam)

Curragh, August 8th

This colt shaped up well in a maiden won by Cowbow Justice at the Curragh last Sunday. He eventually had to settle for fifth but finished on the heels of the leaders and gave the impression he would be all the better for this run.

He looks a two-year-old of interest for the coming months and could easily be good enough to win a maiden.

Toshizou

(J.P. O’Brien)

Curragh, August 8th

On his first outing since April, he was unable to justify favouritism in quite a well-contested mile handicap won by No More Porter. However, he ran well to be beaten by a length and a half into fourth in a race that favoured those that raced prominently. It wouldn’t surprise if he challenged for a premier handicap before the end of the season.

Tranquil Lady

(J.P. O’Brien)

Gowran, August 11th

A half-sister to her trainer’s Saratoga Derby winner State Of Rest, this filly had to settle for eighth on her debut in a competitive-looking median auction maiden on Wednesday evening.

However, she was only beaten by four lengths and ran much better than her final position would suggest as those that raced on the pace were at a significant advantage. She should improve plenty from this and could easily play a leading role wherever she turns out next.
