Self Assessed

(P. Martin)

Down Royal, September 3rd

This 11-race maiden had dropped 15lbs in the weights from his initial handicap mark by the time he lined up in a race won by Silent Performance last week.

He ran much his best race for some time to be beaten three lengths into fifth and this effort would suggest he could make his mark before the end of the season.

Recyclable

(M. Mulvany)

Down Royal, September 3rd

This filly beat just one rival home on her nursery debut at Down Royal last Friday. However, she shaped better than the final result and a wide draw wouldn’t have helped her cause either.

To date she has struggled in her four starts, but on slow ground in the autumn it wouldn’t surprise if she got competitive in another nursery.

Zerinda

(D. Queally)

Navan, September 4th

She showed ability on her debut at Limerick in April and shaped up well on her first run since then when finishing fourth to Climate over a mile on Saturday.

She could easily come forward again and won’t need to progress all that much to make her mark in a late-season maiden.

Sun King

(A.P. O’Brien)

Galway September 7th

A son of Galileo and a stakes-winning juvenile, he shaped up quite nicely to take third in the maiden won by the potentially high-class Swan Bay on Tuesday. For a good deal of the race he seemed to labour, but he stayed on in quite taking fashion when he became attuned to what was required from him and he looks like one that could progress very well from this.

Queens Command

(K.T. Coleman)

Cork September 8th

This filly ran respectably in a reasonable Bellewstown maiden on her debut two months ago and she performed just as well on Wednesday when she was beaten just four and a half lengths into sixth by Trevaunance. She travelled notably well through the race and showed enough to suggest that she could be placed to advantage before the end of the season.
