MAGIC Wand, Anthony Van Dyck and Mount Everest are likely to be the three Aidan O’Brien-trained runners at Hong Kong’s International Raceday in Sha Tin on Sunday, December 8th.

Stable companions Circus Maximus and Magical have also been invited to run in two of the four Group 1 races on the day but The Irish Field understands that they are unlikely to travel.

Almond Eye is one of 11 in a powerful challenge from Japan, which also features crack milers Indy Champ, Normcore and Admire Mars, this year’s classic heroine Loves Only You and further star fillies Lucky Lilac and the talented globe-trotter Deirdre.

The four Group 1 features also include big-name Europeans. Recent Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes winner Magic Wand will take on Almond Eye in the 10-furlong Cup and Anthony Van Dyck and Mount Everest, third and sixth in the Breeders’ Cup Turf, run in the Vase – the last-named is set to become the first Derby winner to compete at the meeting.

Japan has some of its best fillies to take on Exultant in the Vase including Group 1 winners Deirdre, Lucky Lilac and Loves Only You.

Roger Charlton’s Group 1 Preis von Europa winner Aspetar is one of four challengers from Britain, while France has two high-class selected runners including Edisa, winner of the Jockey Club Oaks Invitational at Belmont, Prince Of Arran who has made the frame in the past two renewals of the Melbourne Cup, and the well-regarded Young Rascal.

Beauty Generation, Mr Stunning, Exultant and Glorious Forever completed an unprecedented Hong Kong clean-sweep of last year’s races.
