Jumping Jet looks an exciting prospect who can make a winning debut for new connections. An impressive winner on her sole start for Barry Fitzgerald, she was subsequently bought by Robcour and transferred to Gordon Elliott. The form of her first run has worked out seriously well so she will take all the beating.

Mare Quimby has some very good runs to her name, both in bumpers and over hurdles. However, thus far, she has failed to add to her only success in a Punchestown bumper. Her experience could prove a big advantage as she faces a couple of unexposed debutants.

Sams Profile reverts to chasing having won the Grade 2 Galmoy Hurdle when last seen. The seven-year-old is a high-class hurdler on his day, and was only just denied in Grade 1 company as a novice. His initial runs over fences proved slightly disappointing but at the same time there was sufficient promise for another attempt. Granted a clear round he should be difficult to beat.

The Bosses Oscar was well-beaten at Listowel on his chasing debut but is entitled to have needed that run. He should appreciate the stiffer stamina test here and will be staying on strongly up the hill.

Tesseract, who returned to form when second at Tipperary last time, may be able to go one better. Formerly a smart handicapper when with Joseph O’Brien, he lost his way and subsequently dropped down the ratings. Aidan Howard is an expert at rekindling the spark in these older horses and he could well have another on his hands.

The Dabbler looks a progressive young chaser who could still have more to offer. Trainer Liam Cusack also loves to target horses at this venue so has probably had this race in mind for some time.

Sir Bob has yet to prove as effective over fences as he does over flights but gives the impression there is a win in him. A former point-to-point winner, he had lost his way last season before showing more like his old sparkle when easily landing a handicap hurdle at Naas. Denis O’Regan is a big booking for the nine-year-old as he should be able to switch him off for a late run.

Wake Up Early gives owner J.P. McManus a strong hand in this contest. A course-and-distance winner, he needs to bounce back to form but is more than capable on his day.

Ballywilliam Boy should appreciate this easier task having run well when fifth in listed company at Limerick. On his previous start, he shaped with distinct promise when a close second in a decent conditions hurdle at Listowel. Trainer Michael Hourigan is enjoying something of a rebirth of late and this six-year-old can provide another winner.

Donacheady Gale could literally be anything, as he is totally unexposed at this stage of his career. His Ballinrobe win came on the back of a long absence so provided he doesn’t ‘bounce’ then he has to be a live contender.

Barbury Master sets a fair standard having already been placed on three occasions over hurdles. The Gigginstown House Stud-owned six-year-old may not have seen out the three-mile trip last season so will be more at home back at this intermediate distance. With a handicap rating of 119, he boasts solid form provided none of the debutants are above average.

Chinx Of Light ran very well on his sole start to date when second in a Punchestown maiden last March. His absence since then has to be cause for concern but if he is ready for this assignment then he can put it up to the Meade runner.

Endlessly, a recent recruit to the Matthew Smith stable, is probably on a nice mark over hurdles. A dual winner over this distance for Olly Murphy last year, he stays further on the flat so should enjoy the stamina test of this track. Smith has developed a good reputation for improving horses out of other yards and this could be yet another.

Thousand Tears faced a stiff task in graded class last time but was running respectably until falling two out. While she wouldn’t have been competitive in that hot affair, she is more than good enough to take a hand here.

The Model Kingdom is an interesting contender here for the Noel Meade stable. Her dam was just beaten in a similar race at this meeting a number of years back and, trainers being creatures of habit, Meade may well have had this contest in mind for some time. It would be no great surprise to see her play a prominent role.

See A Stride has the advantage of previous experience, albeit in a point-to-point. She won on her only foray in that company but the bare form is difficult to gauge. At the same time, she could only beat what she faced on the day, so may well have further improvement to come.
