Joseph O’Brien holds the key to this juvenile Grade 3 with both A Wave Of The Sea and Cerberus. There was only a length between the pair at Punchestown in October, the former coming out on top and since then they’ve each run out impressive big-margin winners. Slight preference is for A Wave Of The Sea, who won a defied a penalty when winning impressively in a deeper race at Down Royal and who has since been acquired by J.P. McManus.

French import Saint Doroux may have more to offer now but needs to improve plenty while the same can be said for Noel Meade’s filly Dinard Rose, who did show a good attitude when winning at Gowran Park last Saturday.

Prince Of Scars is an intriguing runner, making his debut in the double green silks of Isaac Souede and Simon Munir. Formerly owned by Gigginstown House Stud, he won a Grade 1 over hurdles and was earmarked by his trainer as a serious horse to follow prior to embarking on a novice chase campaign in the 2016/17 season.

That didn’t work out and he was then hampered by a long-term injury before returning last season and kept to hurdles. It’s interesting his big-name owners have taken a chance on him and freshened up, he returns to chasing off a mark which is 11lbs lower than his hurdles assessment.

The Gatechecker is respected after his Cork National win but the same owner’s Killer Miller is another interesting contender.

Well regarded earlier in his career, he has had precious little time on the track but did come back with a promising effort at Punchestown last month.

This trip could be the making of him and he is potentially very nicely treated off a mark of 127.

Four run in the J.P. McManus silks here and you could make a good case for each but at a likely more attractive price, Terence O’Brien’s Lakemilan looks worth chancing. She has been thriving this summer and could have won the valuable Grade B handicap hurdle at Listowel but for traffic problems late on when she was trying to give chase to the well handicapped Davids Charm. Since that run, she won a Grade B handicap chase at Cork in really good style, prompting a 10lbs raise in that sphere so that means she is 14lbs lower returning to hurdles tomorrow.

As always, Willie Mullins holds a strong hand. He runs two in the J.P. silks – Ciel De Neige who caught the eye when finishing third to Band Of Outlaws in the Fred Winter on his only run for this stable and Janidil, a good winner at Down Royal last time.

This four-year-old bumper has been won by some top-class horses in years gone by and with 18 declared, representing a lot of the big yards and owners, there is every chance it will produce another top prospect today.

The Cheveley Park colours were carried to victory by Envoi Allen here last season and they can make it two in a row with the Willie Mullins-trained Ferny Hollow. A 15-length winner at Knockanard earlier this year, he changed hands for £300,000 and makes his track debut today.

There are any amount of dangers and a tentative second vote goes to Gordon Elliott’s Ragnar Lodbrok, a €72,000 Derby Sale purchase who will be ridden by Jamie Codd.
