12.00 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF BEGINNERS CHASE 2M 4F

Snugsborough Hall gets the vote. This capable handicap hurdler indicated that his turn over fences may not be far away when he finished a 1¾l second to Se Mo Laoch in a handicap chase over an extended 3m at Punchestown earlier in the month. The drop back to this distance isn’t a concern as he was placed in a decent handicap hurdle over this trip last Christmas. He is preferred to Getaway Kid who has yet to win a race but has posted some decent efforts in defeat such as when finishing a 3l second to Monbeg Worldwide in a 2m 4f maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse last month. This will be his chasing debut.

Grotesque is another chasing newcomer who could show up well.

SELECTION: SNUGSBOROUGH HALL

12.30 ADAM & ANN ARMSTRONG MEMORIAL HANDICAP CHASE (0-102) 2M 4F

The Gordon Elliott yard has done well with similar recruits on many occasions in the past and this earns Ticket To Ride a hopeful vote. This ex-English five-year-old has run to a modest level so far but after just seven runs it could be unwise to assume that he has reached the summit of his abilities and he could well prosper for the switch to Elliott.

He has also run respectably at this trip in the past. He is chosen ahead of Bective Cave who comes into this race off an encouraging third to Capture The Drama in a Clonmel handicap chase earlier this month.

1.00 TOALS BOOKMAKERS HUNTERS CHASE 2M 6F

Stand Up And Fight is put forward to build on his impressive point-to-point debut at Dromahane last month. The six-year-old lost his way last season following a very encouraging novice hurdling season where his efforts included an excellent 4l second to Al Boum Photo in a Grade 2 at Punchestown.

He is preferred to Kruzhlinin who was a high-class jumper at his best and looks to have been reinvigorated by a switch to point-to-pointing where he has reeled off three smooth victories. Last year’s third, Sizing Coal, commands the utmost respect on his return to action. He won two hunter chases last season.

SELECTION: STAND UP AND FIGHT

Next best: Kruzhlinin

1.35 I.N.H. STALLION OWNERS EBF MAIDEN HURDLE 2M 4F

He hasn’t quite built on the promise of his debut success in a Navan bumper last season but Invincible Cave is worth taking a chance on. On his hurdling debut at Gowran last month he performed quite respectably to be beaten just under 6l into fifth by Ballyneety. That was his first run since February so he is entitled to improve for that run and the switch to slower ground and a longer trip will suit him well. Sinoria finished several lengths in front of Invincible Cave that day when finishing fourth on her racecourse debut.

SELECTION: INVINCIBLE CAVE

2.10 CONNOLLY’S RED MILLS IRISH EBF AUCTION MAIDEN HURDLE 2M 125YDS

Presented Well should be hard to beat. Only for falling at the second last flight he would have chased home Come To Me at Cork earlier this month which would have yielded a third runner-up finish from as many starts on the track. In all probability a repeat of either of his last two runs will enable him to deal with Melly And Me who holds a rating of 109 and posted a solid effort to finish a 1¾l second to Rock Road at Fairyhouse last month.

SELECTION: PRESENTED WELL

2.45 ADARE MANOR OPPORTUNITY HANDICAP HURDLE (80-102) 2M 125YDS

A tentative vote falls to the top weight Weekend Offender. He was rated 96 when he last ran on the flat and he is one that could easily progress for a switch to handicap hurdles following three outings in maidens over the summer. His maiden efforts didn’t reflect the standard he performed to on the flat but he wasn’t beaten all that far in two of those runs and there could easily be more to come from him. He can deal with Hero’s Welcome whose last run at Cork, a sixth to Chatham Street Lad, was a reasonably encouraging one.

3.20 DOWN ROYAL CORPORATION OF HORSEBREEDERS (PRO/AM) FLAT RACE 2M 125YDS

Valdieu has shown enough to indicate that a bumper victory is within his reach. This season he has filled the runner-up spot behind two smart types and his 7½l second to Malone Road over this course and distance early last month would entitle him to take plenty of beating. He can see off Braeside who has joined Gordon Elliott after running a number of very solid races in the point-to-point field.

SELECTION: VALDIEU

Next best: Braeside
