THE season might be in its final weeks but it offers the promise of yet further success for Eddie Lynam’s Romantic Proposal who ran out a smooth winner of the Matchbook Straight Seven Handicap.

This Clipper Logistics-owned filly defeated a decent sort in Lovee Dovee to win her maiden over this course and distance last month and did everything at her leisure on her handicap debut.

After travelling supremely well at all stages for Wayne Lordan, she quickened up smartly over the last furlong for a smooth success and looks one to stay on the right side of for the rest of the 2019 campaign.

Just three days after chasing home Royal Canford in a Curragh maiden, the Jack Davison-trained Miacomet (5/1) finally got her turn in the Matchbook Exchange Handicap over five furlongs. This daughter of Dandy Man and the classy Moon Unit, who is owned by the trainer’s mother Paula, had already amassed eight placings over the course of the season, so she was a most deserving winner.

In a race where the finish was dominated by those on the stand’s side Tom Madden’s mount got home by half a length from Bahlwan.

The Jim Bolger-trained Harriet Tubman (6/1), a daughter of Dubawi and her trainer’s top-class juvenile Saoirse Abu, built on a placed debut at Listowel to run out a determined winner of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden over a mile and a half.

This Godolphin-owned filly held every chance from early in the straight and dug deep for Kevin Manning to fend off the persistent effort of Angel Fish by three-parts of a length.

Elsewhere, Glenbeigh-based trainer Ian O’Connor, who has six horses under his care, sent out his second winner in three weeks as the first-time-blinkered You’llfindandsee took the 45-65 rated handicap over a mile and a half. A first winner in over a year for jockey Gearoid Brouder, the 20/1 shot struck for home early in the straight and stuck to her task well to hit the line half a length ahead of the staying-on Liars Corner. The winning rider received a two-day whip ban.
