ON the same day entries were revealed for the RSA Insurance Novices’ Chase, Presenting Percy was made favourite for the three-mile contest after he won the Grade 2 Galmoy Hurdle at Gowran Park.

After the race owner Philip Reynolds suggested that Presenting Percy “was made for the RSA” and the seven-year-old’s price cut by bookmakers across the board.

Pat Kelly’s gelding is one of 28 Irish entries a field of 62. Of the 28 entries, 22 are trained by either Willie Mullins or Gordon Elliott, yet the next shortest-priced runner doesn’t hail from either of those stables.

Henry de Bromhead’s Monalee (7/1) has been touted for this race all winter and the Albert Bartlett runner-up will have another chance to state his case at the Dublin Racing Festival next weekend.

A faller on his previous run in the Grade 1 Neville Hotels Novices’ Chase, he looks set for the Flogas Novice Chase (2m5f) where he could meet other Irish RSA Chase hopefuls Invitation Only (Willie Mullins), Shattered Love (Gordon Elliott) and Snow Falcon (Noel Meade, see Talking Trainer on A9).

Dounikos (33/1), Dinaria Des Obeaux (25/1) and the talented Sutton Place (16/1) look the pick of the remainder of Elliott’s entries while Rathvinden (25/1), Al Boum Photo (25/1) and Bonbon Au Miel (33/1) catch the eye for Mullins, who has won this race four times.

The Anthony Honeyball-trained Fountains Windfall (8/1) is the shortest priced British runner entered, while Black Corton (16/1), the Grade 1 Kauto Star Novices’ Chase winner is also a likely runner for Paul Nicholls.
