GALWAY-born Patrick Owens sent out his first winner after taking out a licence last autumn when Venusta dead-heated in the opener at Chelmsford on Thursday.

Owens, who has 25 years experience in the industry,originally as an assistant to Luca Cumani, and more recently pre-training in Newmarket, is based at the historic Sr Gatien Stables in the town.
