2.05 McHale Fusion 3 Range Mares Maiden Hurdle 2m2f 65yds

Fairyhill Run holds leading claims at a track where her trainer does particularly well. A useful mare in bumpers last season, the daughter of Mahler showed definite promise on her hurdling debut at this venue recently. John Ryan’s five-year-old is entitled to come on from that first run in 169 days, so a big performance here would come as no surprise.

Westcoast Tiger could be a serious threat as she is a very lightly raced mare who was just denied at Wexford last time. At the finish, only a nose separated her from the winner, so she should go well without a penalty in this grade.

Heliers Bay who was very well supported when winning here last time can make it back-to-back wins. Making her handicap debut on that occasion, she travelled easily and could be named the winner a long way from home. While the handicapper has had his say by giving her a 9lb rise, this six-year-old should have more to offer.

Trees Valley beat a subsequent winner very easily at Tramore on her most recent start so commands respect once again. Liam Burke’s mare likes to race prominently so this tight track looks set to play to her strengths.

SELECTION: HELIERS BAY

Mrs Milner won a similar race to this at the Galway Festival and can double-up. A mare who showed promise in better-class races during the winter, she took time to come to hand, but on the evidence of her Ballybrit success she is starting to look very much the finished article. Stepping up in trip is something of an unknown, but on breeding she must have every chance of staying the extra distance.

Skyace is certainly one who has no questions to answer on the stamina front. A winner of a three-mile maiden hurdle at Tipperary, she followed up at Gowran, before just finding one too strong last time. With a promising claimer in the saddle she could just be well treated on her handicap debut.

SELECTION: MRS MILNER

3.45 McHale Orbital Round Bale Wrapper Handicap Hurdle 2m6f 43yds

Fly De Megaudais is a speculative suggestion in a very competitive handicap hurdle. The seven-year-old scored his sole career success at this venue back in April 2019 but has shown glimpses of ability on a few occasions of late. The addition of first-time blinkers could spark further improvement which may just be enough to see him return to winning ways.

Mickey Shea had shown precious little prior to a very encouraging third at this track last time. A reproduction of that effort would almost certainly be enough to see him reach the frame at the very least.

Thosedaysaregone lacks the chasing experience of his rivals but arrives here in better form so might just get away with it. Charles Byrnes admiral seven-year-old has been mixing it between hurdling and the flat recently but was an impressive winner of his only start over fences. While the tight track may not play to his strengths he is still the most likely winner.

Livelovelaugh isn’t the strongest of finishers but has run well in some high-class handicap chases in recent years. He held every chance in this year’s Galway Plate before fading on the long climb to the winning line. Perhaps the first-time tongue-tie can bring about some improvement.

SELECTION: THOSEDAYSAREGONE

Next best: Livelovelaugh

Go Another One, who has been a real money-spinner for connections, can add this prize to an impressive CV. John McConnell has done an excellent job with the eight-year-old, mixing it between hurdling and chasing throughout his short career. A winner of two of his five starts over fences, the son of Stowaway can still race off a lower mark than over hurdles. With his rider able to offset a further 7lbs he looks a leading contender.

Mindsmadeup was an impressive winner at Galway last time although he has paid the price for that easy win with an 8lb rise in the weights. However, it is always worth following horses from the Matthew Smith yard once they hit form so his winning run may not have come to an end just yet.

SELECTION: GO ANOTHER ONE

5.15 McHale Tiger Roll Beginners Chase 2m7f

Aforementioned is sure to be a popular choice here, representing the connections of the horse after whom this race is named. A winner over hurdles for Joseph O’Brien earlier in his career, the Gigginstown House Stud-owned horse had lost his way somewhat before switching to Gordon Elliott. On the back of two solid starts over fences, he should be very competitive in a race his trainer will be keen to win.

Line Out is rated 1lb higher than the selection by the handicapper so there is unlikely to be much between them overall. However, John Kiely’s runner hasn’t been in the same form as his opponent of late so will need to recapture his best if he is to upset the script.

SELECTION: AFOREMENTIONED

Next best: Line Out
