I’D imagine Reaching High will run in the Ascot Stakes, and possibly Poniros and Too Bossy For Us. Reaching High has the pedigree to get that trip; he’s bred with huge stamina in mind.
Poniros won the Triumph Hurdle and you need to really stay to get that trip as a four-year-old in Cheltenham, so I think he’ll get that. Too Bossy For Us is maybe less of an open book for me. He’ll have to improve a little bit but he does things nicely at home.
Charlus and Pappano are likely candidates for the Copper Horse Stakes. On their present form, you would have to be more hopeful than expecting anything. They’re both fit and well and will take their chance.
Sober runs in the Queen Alexandra on Saturday. He hasn’t done anything like this trip on the flat. It’ll be a new departure for him, but on the evidence of his homework and what he’s done over hurdles, that puts him in the picture.
Ethical Diamond goes to the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes on Friday. He was fourth in it last year, when a lot of things went wrong. We’re hoping that he’s an improved horse and with the benefit of knowledge from last year, we’re hoping he’s going to give a good account of himself.
Blue Lemons runs in the same race. He needs to improve; he disappointed us on his last run in Punchestown.
I’m happy enough that all our horses will handle the firm ground or if it’s softer, they’re well used to that.
