ROGUE Legend will be entered in multiple two-year-old races next week but the plan, I would say very much, would be the Windsor Castle Stakes. He’s a progressive, strong two-year-old. He was very green on his debut, as mine tend to be, and he ran around a bit.
He was much smarter the second time and won comprehensively, carrying a big weight. He’s been running in those median sires races and, being by Havana Grey, he is at the top end of that scale.
Last time out, he put up a very polished display at Tipperary carrying 9st 12lb, so he’s progressed with every run, and I think he’ll progress again next week.
He’s been given a Timeform rating of 105, which they say is good enough to win nine of the last 10 Windsor Castles.
Carmers runs in the Queen’s Vase. Fiona Carmichael sent him to us to train as a yearling.
He’s trained well all his life, but he only made his debut last month in Ballinrobe, winning a staying maiden. He looked to have improved when, eight days later, he went to Navan and won a listed race by three lengths.
He’s very straightforward and genuine. He wears blinkers because he just does what he has to do. I think they’ve helped him. I think he will enjoy Ascot. The Queen’s Vase looks the perfect set-up for him.
We run Catalina Delcarpio in the Ribblesdale. She looked well above average when she won on debut at Leopardstown in early April and she backed that up with a fine performance when second in a Group 3 at Navan just 17 days later.
She was a bit unlucky in running there, trapped on the rail. To be fair, the winner [Wemightakedlongway] is a good filly, but she’d gone. I think our filly did the fastest sectional for every one of the final six furlongs. We learned a lot in defeat.
I don’t think she will have a problem stepping up to 12 furlongs. The Ribblesdale looks the perfect race for her and we’re looking forward to the challenge. She has run on both good and soft ground. Billy [Lee] thought that, if anything, the soft ground blunted her acceleration at Navan, so good ground at Ascot will suit. We also have the Irish Oaks in mind for her.
One Look goes for the Duke Of Cambridge. She won the Park Express this season, then chased down Porta Fortuna to half a length in the Lanwades Stud Stakes. She looks to be in the form of her life.
We also hope to run Admiral Churchill in the Britannia. He has won his last two races and was due to run at Fairyhouse yesterday [Friday].
