Tuesday
“I was so scared about the whip rules, I thought it would just be easier to throw it away at the 200 [metres]! Jockey Mark Zahra dropped his whip in the closing stages on Docklands in the Queen Anne.
“He is still a top-class miler. I thought he had it there. He has done us proud and we are delighted. I’ll be alright in 10 minutes! He’s beaten an awful lot of champions in that race. Hit the front, got done on the line, horrible! But nobody died and he’s run a great race.” Richard Hannon said of Rosallion.
“I am a northern jockey. I am riding Monday-to-Friday horses. To get here, just to come here and have a ride here is special. This is our Olympics. You’re riding with Ryan Moore, Christoph Soumillon and William Buick, the best jockeys in the world. The best horses, trainers, owners are all here – it’s a big stage. To win a Group 1 here is very special. The last time I had a Royal Ascot winner [Dandino], I had jet black hair!” Paul Mulrennan on his Group 1 win on American Affair.
“American Affair is probably the only horse here with a Glasgow postcode in his passport! I got the mare from Jim after she’d finished racing. I have been involved with horses since I was six. My wife is a veterinary surgeon – and we’re off to the Highland Show tomorrow with sheep! This horse is the biggest winner we’ve had. And the horse’s stable name is Charlie and he’s won the King Charles!” John McGrandles, winning breeder and part-owner of American Affair.
“He’s riding the best horse and he should win but you still have to ride them well. It was a beautiful, uncomplicated ride and I’m delighted for Colin. Getting a job like this in Royal Ascot week is a big job, it’s nice to get a big one on day one.” Johnny Murtagh after the St James’s Palace .

“We are very fortunate to have a horse of this calibre, not only winning but the style by which he won was very impressive, wasn’t it? Being a son of Kingman makes it even more of a value to all of us. It is Prince Khalid’s legacy.
“I am very thankful for the trainer, the jockey and all the Juddmonte staff; we are all very indebted to them. I hope everyone enjoyed it. He is a wonderful horse.” His Highness Prince Saud bin Khalid of Juddmonte on Field Of Gold.
“It is never ideal to have to regroup and run somewhere else, but I don’t think that was our undoing today. The horse is fine and one thing we’ll be doing from now on is stepping up in trip.” Charlie Appleby after Ruling Court’s defeat.
Wednesday
“She had her first run and Ryan came in and said, ‘They won’t beat her again’. Her second run, Wayne came in and said, ‘They won’t beat her again’. Then you see the two that beat her, so…!” Aidan O’Brien on True Love.
“I believe True Love stood out amongst all the other fillies in the race. We were pretty confident [after Gstaad’s win], we really were. Aidan always said to me that she is very, very fast.” True Love’s co-owner Michael Tabor.
“We have nice horses and good owners, and it’s fantastic to be able to come here with them. This is my first Royal Ascot winner. We did have winners at Cheltenham and Aintree last season.” Paddy Towney after the Queen’s Vase win.

“I love coming here – it is the pinnacle of our sport. Me and Colin [Keane] are after riding the winners and it is great for the Irish lads to be riding winners here. Paddy is a big part now of my career and it’s great to deliver his first Royal Ascot winner. Hopefully, this is the first of many.” Billy Lee on his second winner

“It is all fairly new to me, but I am living the dream, and what happened today is amazing. It has made me so nervous today – you have no idea how nervous I have been.
“It helps my mare [Signe]. I bought her as a yearling and this is her first foal. I am just happy as Larry. I have been involved in the big bunfights before and it’s a lottery. Today is amazing and I have loved it.” Winning owner-breeder of Carmers, Fiona Carmichael
“Royal Ascot is one of the best carnivals in the world! I just can’t thank enough people for the opportunity to be on this big stage!” James McDonald after winning the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes.
“Last year, she came in from America and the plan was to run her in the King Charles III. William [Buick] rode her and said, ‘John, she was looking for a bend after three furlongs’, being an American filly. Full marks to Rab and everyone, and Thady, who have been devoting their time to settling her.” John Gosden on Crimson Advocate.
“I think it is all down to the owner Sheikh Mohammed, because when we bought him with Anthony Stroud, I said, ‘look, he’s an immature horse, give me a chance with him’, and he said, ‘take as long as you like’. Sheikh Mohammed is without doubt the easiest owner I’ve ever trained for.” Gosden again after Ombudsman’s Prince Of Wales’s success.

“This place tames lions. It is so special to win here because it’s so tough. Everyone comes here in great form and everyone is doing their very best, of course.” William Buick getting one on the board after a few disappointments.
“I think the world of him. He’s got a lot of speed and a lot of talent. A mile is perfect for him so ideally there will be a bit more to come. I think he will take us to places, and I think Roger has big plans for him.” Silvestre de Sousa on Royal Hunt Cup winner My Cloud.
“Eve is magic to ride for. She has a lot of trust in me and leaves me to ride on feel. I can’t thank her enough – three Royal Ascot winners. One is the sort of thing you dream of, so to have three is incredible. I have waited a few years for this one.” Charlie Bishop on winning the Windsor Castle on Hurricane Havana.
“The day started off poorly for the books with two well-backed winners, but getting both Cinderella’s Dream and Los Angeles beat was like a scene out of a Disney movie.” Paddy Power spokesman Paul Binfield.
Thursday
“He is a very good horse. He has a good brain and is a very strong, mature two-year-old, another No Nay Never like the filly yesterday. He is doing everything right and I could not be happier with him.” Ryan Moore on Charles Darwin
“William has always said that Merchant is a very good horse. He hasn’t been given an entry in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes lightly, but that might just be froth.”
“Merchant has such a good pedigree, bred by Jim Bolger. Jake Warren bought him at Goffs, and we were so excited, hugging and kissing. My phone was ringing and ringing, and I thought, ‘Aargh, who’s that?’ It was William who said, ‘I have just seen you’ve bought that horse. I have never asked before in 33 years, please can I train him?’ And here we are, at Royal Ascot - it’s very special.” Harry Herbert of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing
“Trawlerman just goes off. I said to William ‘what did you do?’ and he said, ‘I threw the reins at him, he can judge pace better than me’, and off they went together and picked it up from five out. He is an out-and-out galloper and William judged it perfectly – it is not an easy thing to do over two and a half miles.”
“He is a wonderful old horse, and a great team look after him. He is a favourite, part of the furniture really.”
John Gosden on his Gold Cup winner.
“Trawlerman is a great horse. We tried the same tactics last year and we were only beaten by the great Kyprios. He has been such a good horse and is so genuine. I did not have to touch the brakes once. He was on autopilot; he knows his own speed and stays well, so I was just a passenger. The Gold Cup is an extraordinary race. It is two and a half miles, an extreme distance, at Royal Ascot – it is an incredible place.” William Buick

“The plan was for Illinois to go to the Coronation [Cup], so I was training him as a good mile-and-a-half horse. Then when Kyprios retired, we switched him to this race.”
“He got tired at the two-furlong pole today, like a lot of horses do, and we will see if we can improve him another little bit for this distance. It shows how good Kyprios was, as Trawlerman had been second to him a couple of times.” Aidan O’Brien on Illinois
“I said to my husband, if he wins, I’ll run naked down the track for a mile. He so deserved a Group 1 winner on the flat. I’m just going to say…Golden Horn is where it’s at!” Jayne McGivern who stands Golden Horn, sire of Trawlerman
“I used to have 150 horses in Dubai, and quality, but now we have 30 horses in the stable. The young ones are still backward but we are still trying hard. We try the best with what we have.” Saeed bin Suroor after winning the Britannia with Arabian Story
“One day at a time! It is great, and I am delighted for everybody. A lot of hard work goes in to each of those horses.” Aidan O’Brien on approaching 100 Royal Ascot winners
“This is really special. I am delighted for everybody. I think this is Ryan’s first winner in my colours.” Co-owner of Trinity College, Paul Smith
Friday
“After the disaster this was last year, I gave Ryan a year to put it right! There is a big win over hurdles in Ethical Diamond too but, at the moment, we will concentrate on flat.
“These are just fantastic days. Jackie and I were saying coming in here today, just enjoy it, and to have a winner on top is just the cherry on the cake.” Willie Mullins on the board with Ethical Diamond
“It has been an extraordinary week, and that is all down to the team at home. I stand here and talk to you on camera, but they are the ones up in the mornings, feeding them, riding them, checking them – it’s all the little things all the way through and I can’t thank them enough.” Harry Eustace after the Commonwealth Cup win
“This is 50 years of work by the family, going from a small yard, switching from National Hunt to flat, and buying horses and believing that they are going to be good. It is a lifetime’s ambition to have a Group 1 winner.” Joe Murphy said after winning the Coronation Stakes
“This is unbelievable. I have been riding a long time now and been placed in plenty of Group 1 races.
“This is my first one and, if I was ever to ride a Group 1 winner, I wanted it to be for Joe Murphy. I have been riding for him since I was a 7lb claimer and he has been very good to me. I am delighted I can repay him.”
“This is hugely satisfying. Group 1 races are so hard to come by, and good horses are very hard to come by. To do this at Royal Ascot is magic.” Gary Carroll on Cecene’s win
“I need to buy a pair of blinkers, probably!” Zarigana’s trainer Francis-Henri Graffard
