RACE trainees are now mostly out on work placement and experiencing the daily realities of working in a racing yard as the weeks gather pace and the days lengthen.

Once Cheltenham arrives, it begins to feel like we are turning for home and thoughts can jump towards graduation in June and the possibilities that lie beyond.

Yard visits resume with RACE instructors dropping in to various trainers for an update on each individual’s progress and an opportunity to see them in action in the workplace environment.

This feeds into their structured feedback sessions which help them to gauge progress and identify areas for improvement.

Ultimately they are being prepared and the combination of work placement and structured training inputs allows them to develop at the right pace and identify their potential within a secure learning environment.

Development can occur at different speeds for different people and the final group, who are still based at RACE in the mornings, are now stepping up the pace as they prepare to make that jump.
