Cherie DeVaux just delivered an absolute master class with Golden Tempo in the Belmont. She unapologetically put her developing big horse first, trained him each day to what she felt he needed to perform in two very different races, and boy did he deliver. Kudos and congrats!

Decision re Benvenuto Cellini is actually completely against “fair play”, let alone fair punting. The tardy start was caused by his own manoeuvre, nothing else. That winning punters suffered a deduction due to this is manifestly unfair.
Simon Clare@SiClare
Why is the BHA doubling down on this shocking decision and claiming it’s in the interests of the punter?
Nobody expected or thought Benvenuto Cellini should be a non-runner yesterday.
Punters who were hit by Rule 4 deductions are furious about this. Bookies are furious about this.
Rhys Williams@Rhys_N_Williams
Stop overcomplicating something that has an easy solution. If there is a malfunction with the stalls or a jockey is not on the horse when the stalls open = non-runner. Every other situation = runner. Don’t need to try to correct every tiny bit of misfortune to achieve ‘fairness’.

Some of the reactions to the NR fiasco on Derby Day have been laughably hysterical.
IMO, the rule is good and well intentioned. The fault at Epsom lay in the way it was interpreted by the stewards.
Tim Hide@countrytrader28
Trying to explain to someone that the fav in the Derby was declared a non-runner despite only missing the start by a couple of lengths but Wrist Art in the 5:03 at Yarmouth is a runner despite having his leg over a stall and never coming out of them. The rules need looking at.
