How quickly would jumps racing die if CH died at Cheltenham? It would potentially be catastrophic for the sport. The media would be all over it for weeks. “THE most famous/popular horse in racing dies at THE biggest NH meeting in the world and was raced despite 3 recent falls!”

It is a real pity we won’t get to see Constitution Hill line up in this year’s Champion Hurdle. Top marks to Nicky and all @sevenbarrows for not pursuing that dream when they felt it wasn’t right. It will be exciting to see what he can achieve on the level

Wishing Monksfield’s trainer Des McDonogh a long and happy retirement as he steps down after 54 years with a licence. He handled the mighty dual Champion Hurdler with a rare sureness of touch. His purchase of Monksfield for 740 guineas proved to be a bargain for the ages.
