It is such sad news to hear of Edward O’Grady’s passing. A great man and brilliant trainer to ride for, like his horses Edward was always up for the challenge. Above everything though he was an amazing family man. Our deepest condolences to all of his family

Goodbye to one of the sport’s great characters. Really loved my time at Killeens Stables & have some brilliant memories working for such an admirable man. We had some red letter days together with some wonderful horses. Sincere condolences to all the O’Grady family.

Edward O’Grady - Rare class, always. From Golden Cygnet to Back In Front, nearly 1,700 winners and 18 Cheltenham triumphs — Edward O’Grady trained horses the right way. Quiet brilliance, lasting standards, a final winner at Bellewstown with Our Soldier. Thank you, Edward.

9 is not old for a horse as NH enthusiast will tell you he’s in his prime. This happens to horses grazing in fields and possibly would happen to him. The blame culture gets worse by the day. [On the fatal injury to Trueshan]

Appreciate it’s tough when that amount of rain falls (27mm) so quickly, but the winning time of the Gordon Stakes wasn’t a heavy ground time. Do you go from Good (GF) to Heavy just like that? Goodwood going conundrums this week
“When Edward fancied a horse and gave you the office, you didn’t need to have money, all you needed to have was credit, you always felt they would deliver.”
J.P. McManus on RTÉ Sport
“I got the lucky gaps and I don’t think that’s a coincidence. He’s looking down on me since the day he left us. I have so much confidence now knowing that he’s looking down on me .To do this for him, I think he’d be proud.”
Alan O’Sullivan on RTÉ after winning the Amateur Riders’ Handicap at Galway, dedicated to his late brother Michael
“If I couldn’t train two-year-olds, I don’t think I’d do the job, the new batch comes in and you are dreaming again. If I was getting up every day, like the jumps trainers, looking at the same batch of horses, I think I’d go painting.” Ger Lyons on RTV at Goodwood
“I was asked to do 12 second furlongs, and I’ve double checked and I was doing 12 second furlongs” Kieran Shoemark on Qirat’s remarkable win in the Sussex Stakes
