Criticising “the media” is an incredibly poor position to take. Staggered to see that go unchallenged by a professional working in the industry. The media were simply undertaking their duties. Like it or not, a champion in any sport will always be seen as a role model to others.

What an utterly bizarre interview. To come out attacking the media for spreading ‘misinformation’, for ‘bullying’, for ‘jealousy’. Which is all utter nonsense.

He is the four-time champion jockey, does he not think he should be held to account?

Strange interview by Oisin Murphy. Never a good idea to blame the media for your troubles which in his case are entirely self-inflicted. Given the final warning he had from @BHAHorseracing for past misdemeanours, he’s a lucky boy to be free to continue riding.

I have personal experience regarding substance abuse so my comment is based on that experience. On three occasions in this clip @oismurphy blames media. I never heard the words, “I have a problem”. And for that reason, I have a problem with this interview. Wishing him the best.

I don’t dislike Murphy. I like him on interviews. I hope he gets the support he needs and that he comes through this stronger. But he’s not the victim. He’s the transgressor. The comments by him and Matt re: online punters’ views are typical of the condescending view that racing professionals have for racegoers and punters. It’s invariably sneering, aloof, out of touch and short-sighted.

Astonishing. How many times did he blame the media? Doesn’t strike me as someone who is contrite about his actions, and has taken full ownership and responsibility.
