IT’S hard to come up with a quiz question that cannot be easily answered with an online search, but we think we’ve found one.

Can you name the Irish Derby winner pictured above? Don’t bother asking AI. We uploaded the photo to a top-of-the-range artificial intelligence application and it confidently answered: ”The search results point strongly to The Minstrel. The photo’s style and colours are consistent with 1977 at the Curragh. The Minstrel wore the pink/salmon silks of owner Robert Sangster, which match what’s visible on the jockey in the photo. The jockey is Lester Piggott.”

Well, they were kind of close in one way, but it looks like our jobs are safe for another while!

If you can name the horse, email fieldcomp@theirishfield.ie with your answer by 10am next Tuesday (June 16th) and you could win one of five pairs of tickets to the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh on Sunday, June 28th. You must include your home address as the tickets are ‘physical’ and will be posted to you.

This year marks the 161st running of the Irish Derby, which has been sponsored by Dubai Duty Free since 2008.

In 2025, Dubai Duty Free celebrated record-breaking sales of US$2.378 billion.

The three-day Irish Derby Festival also features the Best Dressed Competition, sponsored by the award-winning airport retailer. One lucky winner will walk away with an unforgettable trip to Dubai, including flights, luxury accommodation at the Creekside Hotel (part of the Accor range) and a shopping spree at Dubai Duty Free.

Vogue Williams will be joined on the judging panel by Alpana Cidambi, representing Dubai Duty Free, and lifestyle writer Bairbre Power.
