JUMP jockey Mark McDonagh is combining race-riding with being a professional financial advisor.
Holding a degree in accountancy and finance from the University of Limerick, Mark is also a qualified financial advisor, having received the QFA designation last year from LIA, Ireland’s professional body for the finance profession.
He recently accepted a position with the Thurles branch of Fairstone Ireland, part of the popular Ask Paul website offering financial advice.
“They’re very good to allow me continue race-riding and riding out,” Mark told us. “My job is meeting clients to talk about a range of services such as savings, investments, pension advice, life cover and even retirement planning. Everyone needs financial advice at some stage, especially people in the equine industry, where income can be volatile.”
Chatting to Mark this week, we quizzed him on some Budget 2027 tax changes and new savings schemes and we’re pleased to say he knew his stuff!
