TOP-class National Hunt mares Gitane Du Berlais, Ma Filleule and Une Artiste will be among a draft of 30 consigned to the Arqana December Sale by owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede.

Three of the mares in the dispersal are in foal to Martaline and four mares are in foal to Saint Des Saints.

Trained by Willie Mullins, Gitane Du Berlais won the Grade 1 Scilly Isles Novices Chase as well as two Grade 3 races over hurdles, at Auteuil and Fairyhouse. She is in foal to Martaline.

Also in foal to Martaline is Ma Filleule. When trained by Nicky Henderson, she was rated 162 over fences. She won eight races including the Grade 3 Topham Trophy at Aintree and was placed second in the Grade 1 Ryanair Chase and Grade 1 Ascot Chase.

Henderson trained Une Artiste to win the Grade 3 Fred Winter Handicap Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival as well as a Grade 3 chase in Ireland. She too is in foal to Martaline.

Also for sale is Grade 1 winner Utopie Des Bordes.

Simon Munir commented: “We have been very fortunate over the past few years to have had a lot of racing success with our mares and fillies, who have subsequently been retired to stud. This has resulted in the number of horses in our breeding operation and racehorses in training growing far faster than we anticipated.

“We have therefore decided to sell our broodmares to enable us to manage our bloodstock interests more effectively. It is very hard to part with these mares, especially those such as Ma Filleule, Gitane Du Berlais, Une Artiste and Utopie Des Bordes who are very close to our hearts and have given us wonderful days at the racetrack and have already produced exciting progeny that we are retaining.”
