Roscommon praise
Sir, - I wish to commend Roscommon racecourse and manager Michael Finneran on the work they have done to improve the facilities.
I was there last Monday with one of my grandchildren and the entertainment laid on was unbelievable.
Rural tracks play a vital role in recruiting tomorrow’s racegoers. As a child growing up in Mayo I was brought racing in Tuam before graduating to bigger tracks like Galway. It’s at the smaller tracks the love of racing is developed.
As a trainer I know that Michael Finneran is a very dedicated manager, who is often out on the track at 5am regardless of the weather.
He and his team are making improvements all the time. Once they finish the jockeys’ room the place will be top class. When the new fixture list is published I would dearly love to see Roscommon rewarded for its efforts. - Yours etc.,
