Q: How were the 1,000 tickets allocated?

A: Kildare residents were allocated 200 and another 450 went on general release. Some 50 complimentary tickets were set aside for local frontline workers from the Defence Forces, while the remaining 300 tickets went to Curragh and Go Racing in Kildare members.

Q: What can the 1,000 racegoers at the Irish Derby expect?

A: This is an outdoor event. The racecourse has been divided into zones and there are one-way systems in operation, so the experience may be very different to their last visit.

The racecourse enclosure will be divided into two sections – the ‘industry’ section for those working or participating (owners, jockeys, trainers, stable staff, media, officials, et cetera) and the ‘public’ area for those attending as part of the public trial. Unfortunately, there will be no cross-over between the two zones.

Q: Are tickets still available?

A: All tickets are sold out. We ask that people do not attend the racecourse without a valid ticket and ID as they will be refused entry.

Q: Can those with tickets collect them on the day?

A: No, there will be no ticket collection facility at the track. Each attendee must bring their own ticket with them.

Q: Can I go if I get a ticket from somebody else?

A: Unfortunately not, all tickets must be used by the purchaser who has completed the Covid regulations form at the time of purchase.

Q: Are children allowed in?

A: Yes, However, due to restrictions on the number of attendees children must have a purchased ticket, as the total number of attendees must be capped at 1,000. There will be no children’s entertainment on the day and the playground will be closed. Whilst the Curragh welcomes children to the racecourse, this test event is more suitable for adults.

Q: Is there a risk of a crowd forming if everyone arrives at the same time?

A: There are allocated arrival times on all tickets. This is to ensure that the entrance process will be as straightforward as possible for all attendees and to avoid any delays.

We ask that those with tickets arrive at the allocated time.

Q: Does everyone have to wear

a mask?

A: Racegoers will be asked to wear face coverings at all times, except when eating or drinking, unless they are under 13 or are unable to wear them because of a physical or mental illness or disability. Facemasks will not be provided at the racecourse.

Q: What other checks are being carried out on racegoers?

A: They must enter through the Green Zone Entrance with their ticket and photo ID. Each person may be temperature checked on arrival and their name will be checked against the ticket details.

Q: Why is photo ID required?

A: So we can confirm the names on the tickets.

Q: Is there an official racecard?

A printed racecard will be provided to each person on arrival. A digital racecard is also available on our website.

Q: Will there be food and beverages available?

A: Yes, refreshment facilities will be available around the racecourse and will be operating cashless.

Q: Can racegoers bring their own food and drink?

A: No, we ask that racegoers do not bring their own food and beverages on site. This includes alcohol and picnics due to health regulations with Covid-19. There will be bag searches in operation at entry.

Q: Will there be alcohol available?

A: Yes, alcohol can be purchased by over 18s. Alcohol must be ordered and consumed whilst seated and this will be strictly enforced.

Q: What should racegoers wear?

A: This is an entirely outdoor event. We therefore suggest racegoers check the weather forecast before leaving home and dress for the weather. There will be no indoor seating during the day. While we hope for sunshine, you may need rain gear and/or warm clothes.

Q: Will there be an ATM on-site?

A: No. We encourage all attendees to use contactless payment facilities.

Tote facilities will be available (outdoors) but no bookmakers will be on-site

Q: Will there be betting facilities available?

A: There will be no bookmakers on the course but there will be Tote facilities.

Q: What other measures are in place to ensure the safety of attendees?

A: Hand sanitation stations, regular sanitation of touch points and welfare facilities, suitably spaced furniture, one-way systems, and signage. Social distancing will be supported by the Curragh Racecourse staff and security on the day.

Designated Covid Compliance Officers will be located throughout the site to monitor compliance and provide assistance. Racegoers will asked to read our Code of Conduct and must agree to observe it.
