THE Irish-bred Detroit Blues caused an upset when winning an allowance hurdle at Saratoga this week.

Owned by Rosbrian Farm, trained by Ricky Hendriks and ridden by Sean McDermott, the former Dromahane point-to-point winner relished a bit of cut in the ground and won easily.

“Before I rode him at Parx, I spoke to Mikey O’Connor, who’s a leading amateur in Ireland. He had won on him, he liked him,” McDermott said. “Then I talked to Micheal Nolan, who rode him at Jamie Snowden’s. He said he liked him but he used to bleed quite a bit, so America is suiting him well.”
