AINTREE’S loss could be Fairyhouse’s gain.

Tiger Roll has been denied the chance to win a third consecutive Grand National at Aintree but he is among the entries for the BoyleSports Irish Grand National, which is set to go ahead on Easter Monday, April 13th.

The Gordon Elliott-trained 10-year-old finished second last week in the Cross Country Chase at Cheltenham. Eddie O’Leary, racing manager for Gigginstown House Stud, has told The Irish Field that the plan is to run Tiger Roll in the €500,000 Fairyhouse race.

Gigginstown has eight other entries among the top 30 in the weights, including top-weight Delta Work. Also among the Gigginstown entry is recent Cheltenham winner Milan Native, who is sponsor’s 10/1 favourite.

Milan Native won the Kim Muir Handicap Chase at Cheltenham, and the same race was won in 2019 by the other joint favourite, Any Second Now. Trained by Ted Walsh for J.P. McManus, Any Second Now recently won a two-mile Grade 3 chase at Naas.

Last year’s Irish Grand National winner Burrows Saint is one of 17 entered by Willie Mullins.

Fairyhouse general manager Peter Roe said: “We will work in tandem with Horse Racing Ireland to ensure that all guidelines set by the Irish Government are met.”
