JUNGLE CAT will have his 33rd and final start when he contests a Group 1 race at Flemington in Australia on November 10th before retiring to stand at Kildangan Stud.

A top-class and consistent sprinter for trainers Mark Johnston and Charlie Appleby over five seasons, the son of Iffraaj won the six-furlong Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint in Meydan last March.

He did not race in Europe this summer and instead went straight to Caulfield in Australia for a Group 1 handicap last month which he won by a short-head.

As a two-year-old, he was beaten by a nose in the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes by future champion sprinter Muhaarar. He’s bred on a similar cross to Iffraaj’s Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Rizeena, and he is free of both Danzig and Sadler’s Wells blood.

Charlie Appleby stated: “He’s a model of consistency at the top level and a straightforward horse to train, good minded and very sound.”

HARRY ANGEL TO DALHAM

Darley also announced this week that Harry Angel (by Dark Angel), has run his last race and will stand at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket next year. Fees will be set for the pair shortly.

A Group 2 winner as a juvenile, Harry Angel won both the Group 1 July Cup and Group 1 Haydock Sprint Cup at three.

He began this season is flying form, winning the Group 2 Duke of York Stakes but an aversion to starting stalls prevented him from showing his best in three subsequent starts.

Meanwhile, the Andre Fabre-trained Group 1 Prix Ganay winner Cloth Of Stars (by Sea The Stars) will stand at Darley’s Haras du Logis in 2019.
