HERE we go again. The 2021 Irish and British sales year kicks off next Tuesday (January 26th) when Goffs UK will stage Part 1 of its January Sale as a timed online auction.

The sale of horses in training and breeding stock will commence from 10am. Bidding on all lots opens at that time next Tuesday, with lots closing in two-minute intervals from noon. Any bid placed inside the final five minutes will extend that lot’s closing time by a further five minutes.

Over 90 lots are catalogued, headed by the Grade 1 winning mare La Bague Au Roi. Owner Jared Sullivan, who disposed of Laurina in December, is selling the multiple winner Stormy Ireland next week, while Stuart Crawford’s impressive Carlisle bumper winner Hollymount was added to the sale this week.

A five-year-old daughter of Jet Away, Hollymount is a half-sister to the multiple winners and Grade 2-placed Windsor Avenue and Ravenhill Road. She is also a half-sister to Malone Road who topped the 2018 Aintree Sale and showed huge potential when winning his first three races before suffering a setback.

Crawford said: “She comes from a great lineage who have been incredibly successful for her breeders the Buchanan family. She could not have been more impressive at Carlisle which was not unexpected as her homework had been superb throughout the autumn.

“We are training her toward the Grade 2 mares’ bumper at the Dublin Racing Festival and I have no doubt she has the ability to be successful throughout the spring festivals this year.”

Goffs UK managing director Tim Kent commented: “We have got some very exciting horses in this sale, the addition of Hollymount certainly adds to the quality of the catalogue and we are encouraged by the number of online registrations we have received so far.

“We are working with vendors to provide as much information as possible given this online sale is a new concept and conformational videos along with veterinary certificates and other relevant documentation are being uploaded every day as they arrive.

“We ask that buyers keep an eye on their desired lots over the coming days as more information is added to the website and we look forward to offering these horses next Tuesday.”
