Cosgrave ban: Irish-born jockey Pat Cosgrave, who successfully persuaded the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) not to reciprocate a four-month ban imposed by the Emirates Racing Authority (ERA) earlier this year, could be forced to pay nearly £35,000 if he wants to continue his riding career in Britain or Ireland after the ERA placed him on its forfeit list for failure to pay fees and legal costs relating to the case. Under the BHA and Turf Club rules, any individual on the forfeit list of a major racing nation such as Dubai would normally be considered a disqualified person until the debt is discharged. However, the rider has applied to the Turf Club for the ban not to be reciprocated in Ireland and the BHA says it will allow Cosgrave to make an application for the penalty not to be reciprocated in Britain.
