IVAN Grozny (9-10 favourite) made all of the running to claim the big jumps race at Tipperary, the Grade 3 Kevin McManus Bookmaker Grimes Hurdle.

Sent straight into a clear lead by Ruby Walsh, the Willie Mullins-trained gelding never looked back and had pulled a long way ahead on the turn for home. Stablemate Sempre Medici emerged as the closest challenger, but Ivan Grozny was simply too good, winning by 11 lengths.

Walsh said: "The track is in great condition, but it is a dead-level track and a very quick track and you need to have pace to win around here. I'm sure he'll have an entry in the Galway Hurdle but with his style of running, could you see him finding from the dip home? I don't know, but it wouldn't be for me! Maybe there is a good race on the Flat for him."

SPEEDY TWO-YEAR-OLD

Yulong Baobei showed plenty of dash to land the Excelebration Tipperary Stakes in tremendous style.

The Michael Halford-trained filly was smartly out of the stalls and her rider Shane Foley was able to grab the near-side rail. After seeing off Miss Cogent and Madam Bounska, Yulong Baobei (11-10 favourite) drew away in the final furlong to win emphatically and gain her reward at Listed level after running well in both the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Coolmore Stud Stakes at Naas.

Halford said: "She was really professional and is an out-and-out sprinter. She jumped smart, travels, naturally knows her job and is a strong, mature filly.

"She'll have a break and I'm not in a great rush with her. There aren't any two-year-old, five-furlong races for her in Ireland so we might have to travel with her."
