ELUSIVE Heights just came out on top in a thrilling finish to the feature race at Navan, the Follow Navan On Facebook Handicap.

Ger Lyons' lightly-raced gelding was brought down at the Curragh last time having looked so promising on his first two starts and he got his career back on track here by holding off the fast finishing Club Wexford by half a length.

There were any number in with a chance as they passed the furlong marker but it was the 2-1 market leader who picked up best and he had enough in reserve when Club Wexford came at him late on.

Coffee produced a remarkable late burst to claim first prize in the Lynn Lodge Stud Maiden, getting up in the shadows of the post to deny Seville Star by a head.

Niall Madden's 14-1 winner is better known for his hurdling exploits but, on only his second start on the level, he quickened up smartly to run down the hot favourite who had seemed set to collect when edging on inside the final furlong.

The winning handler said afterwards: "That was great. He ran a cracker the last day in Ballinrobe. He's a bit difficult to train. It's great to get the win with him as he's a long time knocking on the door. He'll probably go chasing now."

Aspar (10-3) came through with a well-timed challenge to land the Emerald Facility Event Cleaning Handicap.

Wayne Lordan was happy to bide his time on the recent Naas scorer in the early exchanges but made his move approaching the final furlong and his charge answered his rider's urgings to see off Fit For Function by three quarters of a length.

Lordan said: "We were riding him much more forward but the last day we got a lead and we said we'd do the same today. He won well and I'm delighted. He's in the Scurry but is well out of the handicap. If he goes up enough they might have a go. He has pace and gets six furlongs. Five or six is ideal for him now that we know how to ride him."

Giselle's Charm opened her account at the third time of asking when proving much too strong for market rival Glenamoy Lad in the Irish Stallion EBF Auction Maiden.

Following her runner-up finish at Fairyhouse last month, the Casamento filly was sent off the 6-4 second favourite and always looked to have matters under control, taking over with three furlongs to run and extending three and a quarter lengths clear.

Black Label (8-1) produced a gutsy display when holding off a persistent challenge from Tempo Mac to land the Come Racing 27th August Handicap by half a length.
