ORANGEY Red is in fine fettle at present and completed a quickfire double in the Club Or Charity Fundraisers At Fairyhouse Enquire Today Fillies Race.

Bill Farrell's four-year-old bounced back to form at Listowel less than two weeks ago but faced a stiffer test here against some unexposed three-year-olds.

One of the classic generation, Music Box, put the pace to the race and had her four rivals on the stretch from early in the straight, but Pat Smullen went in pursuit on 100/30 shot Orangey Red, who found more in the closing stages to score by half a length.

Smullen said: "She showed good battling qualities. Connections were a bit worried about backing up a bit soon, and she didn't travel as well as at Listowel. She dug deep when I needed her, and she is getting it together now."

Sometimesadiamond sprang a 20/1 surprise to make a successful introduction in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden. Jim Bolger's daughter of Vocalised tracked the leaders until hitting the front two furlongs from home.

Market leader Butterscotch, with the benefit of a previous outing, loomed up menacingly but couldn't get past Sometimesadiamond, who displayed determination which belied her inexperience to get up by half a length. The well-touted Ger Lyons newcomer My Mystique made good late headway into third.

Bolger's assistant Ger Flynn said: "We seem to have a nice bunch of two-year-olds. Kevin (Manning) said she was a bit green in the closing stages and still has a bit to learn. She can step up to seven furlongs, and she handled that surface well."

Bolger and Manning doubled up when Fountain took the Paul Kelly Veterinary Clinic, Lets Go Grand Winner Handicap. The 6/1 chance came with a wet sail in the final furlong to account for The Eyes Have It by two lengths.

IMPROVED

Low Latency (6/1) banished a disappointing comeback to the memory with victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.

The Darren Bunyan-trained colt was only fifth when fancied at Navan last month but was much improved in the first-time tongue-tie as he disposed of Shinko Princess by two and three-quarter lengths.

Bunyan said: "I don't think I've ever had one as unlucky as him in his first three runs with different things going wrong. Leigh (Roche) gave him a super ride and that was more like what we see at home. His home work is easily Group 3 level. He'll probably go now for the Belgrave Stakes at the Curragh (July 1st)."

Guiding Star (9/1) has picked up some place money over in Britain recently but showed her appreciation for being back on home soil by breaking her duck in the Summer Family Fun Day At Fairyhouse July 23rd Handicap (Div 1).

Buddha Boy looked likely to justify favouritism in the second instalment but he was swamped by Nothing To Lose (25/1), who passed the post a length and three-quarters to the good.
