THE Game Changer relished a return fences as he gave Gordon Elliott a second consecutive success in the Hollymount Nursing Home Chase at Ballinrobe.

The County Meath handler won the race last year with Realt Mor and his charge was sent off 5/2 as he looked to reverse form with Ted Veale, who came out on top when they met over hurdles at Sligo recently.

The latter set the pace under Ruby Walsh but had no answer when Davy Russell laid down his challenge on the winner turning for home and eased two and a quarter lengths clear to land the evening's feature race.

Russell said: "It was a lovely opportunity and he took it well. He had a good run the last day, was building on that and has been a very good servant down through the years.

"I enjoy riding him and while he used to be a little bit braver at his fences, has now gone a bit clever. The ground is gorgeous and they've done a great job with it."

BOUNCED BACK

The Austin Leahy-trained Getoutwhenyoucan bounced back to form when springing a 20/1 P & D Lydon Handicap Hurdle.

Prominent throughout, Mark Walsh's mount led them into the home straight which is when Stormey tried to squeeze up the inside, only to find he had nowhere to go.

The latter rallied but came up short by three-quarters of a length and he result stood after a stewards' enquiry.

Valgor Du Ronceray belatedly got off the mark over obstacles when running out an easy winner of the opening Adare Manor Opportunity Maiden Hurdle.

Joseph O'Brien's charge was sent of 5/4 favourite to make it 13th-time lucky over jumps and justified those odds with ease, stretching seven lengths clear of Now Let Go under Shane Shortall with minimal fuss.

O'Brien and Walsh were both denied a double when Let's Twist Again was touched off by Alaliya in the Corrib Oil Handicap Hurdle.

The 3/1 favourite looked in control turning for home but the winner quickened up nicely for 7lb claimer Liam Gilligan to get up in the dying strides for a half-length success at 13/2.

Kilganer Queen scored at 8/1 to complete a double in the David Heneghan Memorial Handicap Hurdle. A winner at Sligo last week, Denise O'Shea's mare took it up from Perfect Leader off the home turn and stuck on to hold the late thrust of Eiri Na Casca by half a length.

Major Destination made all for Noel Meade in the Connaught Telegraph Beginners Chase, with the 7/4 favourite holding Logical Song by a length.
