MIGUEL Angel significantly raised his game to dominate his rivals in the Tramore Racecourse Supporters Club Maiden Hurdle at Tramore on Saturday.

The Willie Mullins-trained six-year-old finished well beaten at Ballinrobe and Sligo last month but after being sent off at 7-1, the six-year-old appears to have got his act together judged on this nine-and-a-half-length success over Hes Our Robin.

The trainer's son Patrick later had a good tale to tell about Miguel Angel, saying: "He is actually a registered sire. We threw him out in the field as a two-year-old and we thought he was gelded, but he covered a home-bred mare, Airlie Beach, who since won a bumper.

"I have the foal now, and he is from winning parents anyway."

Baily Cloud (8-1) made a winning debut over fences for Mouse Morris with a narrow triumph in the Tramore Racecourse Supporters Club Beginners Chase.

It could have been different had The Plan Man not made a bad mistake at the final fence.

"Jumping is the name of the game and we will find a winners' race for him now," said Morris.

"He goes on the ground and jumps well. The track was probably a bit sharp for him. Hopefully he'll win again over the summer."

Jockey Sean Flanagan enjoyed a double on the afternoon, striking aboard Sparkalark (7-1) in the August Racing Festival 11th-14th Maiden Hurdle before completing his brace half an hour later on the David O'Brien-trained Icelip in the South East Cleaners Handicap Hurdle.

O'Brien said of his 5-1 shot: "He got a bit of a leg after Killarney last year so we were hemming and hawing whether we'd run him. But they done a great job watering the ground here.

"This fellow can be keen and Sean got him well settled.

"I will see how he is before making a plan for him. He was a cheap horse and he has won two races now. He is still well-treated and if the handicapper isn't too hard on him he might win another one."

John Kiely's Conduct Yourself was an 11-10 winner of the Book Online At www.tramore-racecourse.com Handicap Hurdle, while Royal Boru (9-2) landed the At The Races Handicap Chase.

The Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Mares) Flat Race brought proceedings to a close and Arbor Des Champs (6-4) sent favourite-backers home happy with an emphatic success for cousins Emmet and Patrick Mullins.
