LITTLE Mitch made a successful return to action in the Oulart Handicap Hurdle at Wexford.

Yvonne Latta's mare landed a bumper at this venue but had been off since August. J J Slevin made his move on the 8/1 chance after jumping three out and his mount wasn't for catching as she came home three lengths to the good over Admiral Brian.

The winning trainer said: "My son Andrew does all the work with her. He was looking at her yesterday and he was saying 'I hope she is fit enough', but she is a mare that carries condition.

"You'd think she isn't fit enough but she is hard, she is an eight-year-old now. He was hoping for a good run, he was hoping she'd be in the frame.

"She might be little, and she is called Little Mitch, but she has a big, big, big heart. You are never disappointed with her as she always gives you her all.

"We actually bought the dam of her as a foal so that's how long we have the family. She is the last of them racing and we are keeping her as a broodmare, that's the plan with her. She is one of those family pets now, we always have a good day out with her.

"Hopefully she might get into something in Punchestown now. We will just go home and see how she is in the morning, and make a plan after that. She has won three now and was third to Long Dog in Limerick so she has her blacktype as well."

BACK FROM A BREAK

Tellthemnuttin (5/1) returned from a break to land the Welcome To Wexford Racecourse Rated Novice Hurdle.

Dylan Robinson swept past the leading group rounding the home turn and his mount was slick over the last couple of flights to help seal a three-and-three-quarter-length defeat of Boru Boy.

The victory was her third in as many starts at Wexford, and Robinson said: "I won on her twice before and I think she is after improving again from last year. She is a stronger mare now and she just loves racing."

Water Sprite also made a victorious reappearance in the Vinegar Hill Mares Beginners Chase.

There was a long run-in with the last two fences omitted because of the low-lying sun, and Gordon Elliott's 5/2 favourite quickened well to pass several rivals en route to a three-and-a-half-length defeat of Blazing West.

QUALITY

Spancil Hill (10/1) pulled-up on his two most recent outings heading into the Boolavogue Handicap Chase but burst back into life to score by 23 lengths from Rare Legend.

Miss Eyecatcher made the frame in a Grade 3 two starts back and that quality shone through as she repelled Getaway Kid in the Springtime In Wexford Maiden Hurdle as the 3/1 favourite.

Jockey Barry John Foley doubled up when Balinaboola (11/1) took the Slaney Estuary Handicap Hurdle (Div 1), with the second division going the way of 14/1 shot All In The Head.

Jamie Codd was an interesting booking for the Jonathan Sweeney-trained Minutestomidnight in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Flat Race and those who took the hint were rewarded with odds of 8/1.
