Winter Magic put a couple of moderate performances firmly behind him as he bounced back to winning ways in the Kilfeacle Stud Handicap Chase at Tipperary on Thursday evening.

With the 6-1 shot pulling up on his two previous outings, Jimmy Mangan reached for the blinkers and his charge took to them well in the hands of Davy Russell, fighting off the attentions of Nimdani to prevail by a length.

Mangan said: "He travelled well all through the race and that was exactly what I expected out of him.

"I don't like to see those 'P's beside a horse's name but you'd have to say the blinkers worked.

"Davy (Russell) said as long as there's juice in the ground to keep going."

Stoughan Cross sprung a 66-1 shock in the Kedrah House Stud 'Well Chosen' Beginners Chase.

Tom Gibney's gelding is only rated in the mid-80s over timber and showed precious little in two previous chase outings, but took a major step forward by seeing off Roll It Out by three-quarters of a length.

Dont Kick Nor Bite was all the rage for the Hotel Minella Maiden Hurdle after her fourth to Augusta Kate at the Punchestown Festival, but had to settle for second.

The 2-5 favourite was close enough to newcomer Conrad Hastings swinging into the straight but Henry de Bromhead's 10-1 shot could be decent if his 10-length success is any indication.

Scoir Mear was a long way behind Theo at Fairyhouse last month but reversed that form and beat his rival by two lengths in the Ryans Cleaning Event Specialists Handicap Hurdle (Div 1) as the 4-1 favourite.

His trainer Tom Mullins landed the second division too, with Spider Web rewarding the substantial market support that came in for him, accounting for Moorhill Lad by two and a quarter lengths as the 6-4 favourite.

Hurricane Ben (4-6 favourite) won as he liked at Tramore last month and was just as impressive in the Glenview And Rathbarry Stud Novice Hunters Chase.
