IN a move to recognise the harsh trading conditions experienced by many breeders this year, the Irish National Stud has dropped the covering fees of all its stallions, with the exception of Invincible Spirit.

The stud’s CEO Cathal Beale said: “Invincible Spirit once again proved he is the King Of Speed with three individual Group 1 winners among 19 stakes winners in 2018. Alongside our flagbearer, our high quality roster will be available at exceptional value. We have listened to breeders and our fees reflect the current market sentiment.”

Decorated Knight comes down 20% to €12,000 and there are 33% reductions for Dragon Pulse (€6,000) and National Defense (€8,000). Gale Force Ten will be 40% cheaper at €3,000. Free Eagle will be 17% cheaper at €12,500. The popular Elusive Pimpernel stays on €1,000.

Invincible Spirit continued to produce the goods on the racecourse and in the sales ring this year, so it is no surprise that the Irish National Stud has decided to keep the stallion’s stud fee at €120,000 for next year. Group 1 winning two-year-olds Magna Grecia and Royal Meeting were among his latest star performers.
