Turf Club seminars

A seminar for veterinary surgeons, trainers and handlers on equine foodstuffs and supplements will be held on next Wednesday, July 8th, at the Turf Club headquarters on the Curragh. Contributors are Dr Mary Canty on equine foodstuffs and supplements, Louis Reardon on managing animal remedies and Dr Tom Barragry on an ‘Overview of types of Doping, Detection Times and Therapeutic Drugs, Screening and Medicines’. Creighton in clear

Irish-born jockey Eddie Creighton has been discharged from hospital after making good progress following a fall at Warrnambool racecourse in Australia last Saturday. The 31-year-old had been in an induced coma as his condition deteriorated last weekend.

Top fillies in Oaks

Last weekend’s Pretty Polly Stakes winner Diamondsandrubies and Ribblesdale winner Curvy have been installed as joint favourites for the Darley Irish Oaks taking place at the Curragh in two weeks’ time. The line-up is also likely to include Epsom Oaks heroine Qualify and Cork winner Words.

Pharoah for Haskell

US Triple Crown winner American Pharoah will make his next start in Monmouth Park’s William Hill Haskell Invitational Stakes on August 2nd. Owner Ahmed Zayat confirmed plans for his star colt on Thursday. The race was won by the last three-year-old champion Rachael Alexandra in 2009.
