Frankel’s brother for Annshoon Stud

ANNSHOON Stud in Mullinavat, Co Kilkenny, will stand a full-brother to Frankel in 2019. The five-year-old Proconsul, by Galileo out of Kind, has stood at Mickley Stud in England for the past two seasons and his first foals were born this year. He was trained by Andre Fabre but only made two racecourse appearances. Michael Shefflin expects Proconsul to arrive later this month and be ready for inspection during the ITM Stallion Trail in early January.

Top NH sire dies

ROBIN Des Champs, sire of Quevega, Vautour and several other Grade 1 winners, has died. The 21-year-old stood at Glenview Stud in Fermoy but had suffered from low fertility. He also sired Sir Des Champs, Blow By Blow and last Saturday’s Ladbrokes Trophy winner Sizing Tennessee. Dual Cheltenham winner Un Temps Pour Tout is another of his sons.
