Kennedy can ride at Fairyhouse

JACK Kennedy has had his 10-day whip ban reduced to eight on appeal. This allows him to ride at the two-day Fairyhouse meeting on December 1st and 2nd, when his mounts are expected to include Apple’s Jade in the Grade 1 Hatton’s Grace Hurdle.

Keane gets Hong Kong call-up

COLIN Keane will represent Ireland in an international jockeys’ challenge in Hong Kong on December 5th. The 24-year-old former champion will compete against Ryan Moore, Silvestre de Sousa, Zac Purton, Hugh Bowman, Mikael Barazlona, Christophe Lemaire, Yutake Take, Javier Castellano and three local riders in a series of races at Happy Valley.

Rekindling to return to Ireland

THE 2017 Melbourne Cup winner Rekindling is heading back to Ireland to prepare for a return to racing next year. The horse race remained in Australia after being saddled by Joseph O’Brien to win at Flemington but has not raced since then. According to Australian media, Rekindling will accompany O’Brien’s Mackinnon Stakes runner-up Latrobe on the journey from Australia to Hong Kong next month. Latrobe will run in the Vase at Sha Tin but Rekindling has no engagement. Both horses will be aimed at staying races in Europe.
