Classic success for Croom House Stud

DENIS Brosnan’s Croom House Stud in Co Limerick completed an unusual double last Saturday when it bred the dam of the 2000 Guineas winner for the second year running.

Magna Grecia is out of Cabaret, a Galileo filly bred by Brosnan’s Epona Bloodstock and bought by John Magnier as a yearling for €300,000 at Goffs. She went on to win a Group 3 race for Aidan O’Brien before being retired to stud. Epona Bloodstock also bred Maybe, the Galileo filly who won the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes before becoming the dam of last year’s 2000 Guineas winner Saxon Warrior.

Brosnan’s attention now turns to Leopardstown on Sunday where the Croom House Stud-bred Broome is likely to start favourite for the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial.

New sale date
