Rosshill Farm publishes stud fees

EAMONN Hogan’s Rosshill Farm in Co Galway has announced its fees for 2021. The Grade 1 sire Gamut will stand at €2,000 (€1,000 filly foal), the Cyrus Poonawalla-owned Altuistic, whose first crop are four-year-olds, is at a special price of €500 (no foal, free return), Tau Ceti stands at €700 (€350 filly foal), and a new addition for the farm this year is Shamardal’s son Gin Sling who will cover at €200.

Ballindenisk PTP cancelled

SUNDAY’S point-to-point at Ballindenisk, Co Cork, has been cancelled. The track was found to be frozen in places and not fit for racing on New Year’s Eve.

Moss Hartnett mourned

MOSS Hartnett, a key member of the Jimmy Mangan team, passed away on Wednesday night. Known by his friends as ‘the manager’, Moss was a huge part of the Mangan camp for decades. Jane Mangan said: “He was by Dad’s side when Stroll Home won in Galway, Monty’s Pass at Aintree, and everything in between. Moss lived for racing and will be sorely missed by everyone around the locality of Conna and Ballynoe.”

Racegoers denied in England

RACING in Britain will take place behind closed doors for the immediate future after the government there introduced stricter measures across many parts of England from Thursday in an attempt to combat rising coronavirus rates. A limited number of racegoers had been allowed attend meetings in most areas during December. The British Horseracing Authority announced that owners will no longer be able to attend meetings held in Tier 4 areas from New Year’s Day and owners living under Tier 4 restrictions are not permitted to attend race meetings in Tiers 1-3.
