Rose Loxton mourned

TRAINER Rose Loxton, originally from Kinvara in Co Galway, died last weekend. Aged just 59, she was diagnosed by chance with a cancerous cyst in 2018 following a fall from one of her point-to-pointers. Although she underwent surgery, the cancer had already spread. She is best remembered by Irish racegoers for saddling Caid Du Berlais to win the Champion Hunter Chase at the Punchestown Festival on two occasions. She was also a key cog in the Paul Nicholls yard and was closely associated with all-time greats Kauto Star and Big Buck’s.

She is survived by her husband Sam, children Martina, Polly and Freddie.
