Groom laid to rest

THE death took place last week of Paudge Amond, the long term stalwart and stud groom at Milford Stud in Co Carlow. Owned by the Alexander family, Milford Stud was a prominent stallion farm, leading yearling consignor and boarding farm over four decades.

Paudge was a very knowledgeable and well respected horseman with a common sense approach.

He was a fountain of information with a lively sense of humour and will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his daughters Gillian and Lesley.

His legacy lives on through his extended family viz Ian Amond (Gordon Elliott), Niall Amond (Jessie Harrington), Niamh Amond (HRI) and Gavin Lawlor (Peter Fahey).
