RTE’s Nationwide team scooped the overall prize at the prestigious Justice Media awards at Blackhall Place in Dublin this week.
The show is produced by breeder Mary Fanning from Quinnsboro Stud in Monasterevin, and regularly features racing topics.
Nationwide will be at the Curragh on Sunday week (July 2nd) to record a programme on the Irish Derby Festival and this will include two segments on the Godolphin Stud and Stable Awards and on Naas Racecourse.
The show features Patrick Murray from Dermot Weld’s yard, Kildangan stud’s Owen Smyth and Tommy Woods from Paul Nolan’s yard.
Earlier this year Nationwide went behind the scenes at Gordon Elliott’s yard and there are plans for an Irish Champions Weekend feature in September.
Mary Fanning said: “Nationwide supports the positive stories from rural Ireland. We still are held in affection by people and when RTE comes into a town, it is still an event. We are a public service broadcaster, the people are our paymasters and it is our duty to tell their stories.
“I have a particular interest in racing and it is my pleasure to tell the stories of an industry that supports employment in rural Ireland.”
