VENDORS at the upcoming Goffs Open Yearling & Horse in Training Sale (October 24th-26th) are being advised by the sales company to give all horses an EHV 1-4 vaccination prior to the sale.
Suitably vaccinated horses will make more appeal to Chinese buyers at the sale, as would a negative piroplasmosis ELISA test.
Last year’s Open Yearling Sale saw Chinese owner Zhang Yuesheng purchase approximately 50 horses. Mr Zhang’s bloodstock agent Michael Donohoe of BBA Ireland has told The Irish Field that his client intends to be active again at this month’s auction.
Some 17 horses have been added to the Open Yearling Sale catalogue.
They will sell at the end of Wednesday, October 25th, wrapping up day one of the two-day sale, and have been catalogued from 410A on.
Among the sires represented by the additional lots are Famous Name, Footstepsinthesand, Lethal Force, Pour Moi, Society Rock, Zebedee and Zoffany, and first season sires Alhebayeb, Gale Force Ten, Moohaajim, No Nay Never, and Olympic Glory. Pedigrees for the supplementary yearling entries are available online.
Lot 407 is a colt by Swiss Spirit out of Tintean and not as stated in the printed catalogue.
Approximately 650 lots will be offered over three days at Goffs, beginning with the one-day Horses In Training Sale on Tuesday, October 24th. A select number of wild cards for the Horses In Training will be announced closer to the sale.
