EDDIE O’Leary says Gigginstown House Stud will have multiple runners in the Grade 1 JNwine.com Champion Chase at Down Royal next Saturday.

Speaking to The Irish Field on Friday, the leading owner’s racing manager said: “We have 11 entries and I can’t rule any of them out at the moment.”

Gigginstown won the race last year with Valseur Lido and he remains engaged in the three-mile contest, along with stable companions Balko Des Flos and Sub Lieutenant. The Noel Meade-trained Disko and Road To Respect are other obvious Gigginstown contenders though, like Balko Des Flos, the Meade pair are also eligible for the Grade 2 Mycarneedsa.com Chase on the same card for second season novices.

Road To Respect provided Meade with a first Cheltenham Festival winner over fences in March when scoring in handicap company, and he successfully stepped up to Grade 1 level at Fairyhouse at Easter.

He continued his progression on his return to action this month, winning the Irish Daily Star Chase at Punchestown.

Disko has always been held in the highest regard by Meade and after finishing third in the JLT at Cheltenham, he relished the step up to three miles at Punchestown, running out an easy winner of the Growise Champion Novice Chase.

“At the minute it looks like both Disko and Road To Respect will run in Down Royal,” said Meade.

“In which race, I’m not sure, but Michael (O’Leary, owner of Gigginstown House Stud) is quite keen that the two of them run.

“Both are well at the minute. Road To Respect came out of the race at Punchestown good, and Disko worked (on Wednesday) and was in great form.”

The Down Royal feature is also set to feature the return to action of Irish National winner Our Duke. Shaneshill is the sole Willie Mullins-trained entry.
