TRAINER Markus Klug saddled five of the 13 runners in the Group 3 Preis der Winterkonigin at Baden-Baden last Sunday and he provided the first two home.

The one-mile race for two-year-old fillies was won in good style by Whispering Angel, a daughter of the In The Wings horse Soldier Hollow, who is best known in Ireland as the sire of the high-class dual purpose performer Arctic Fire.

Soldier Hollow was in the news again on Wednesday when a yearling daughter by him fetched €140,000 at Arqana (see page 31).

The other Group 3 race on the card, a 10-furlong race for older horses, went to Potemkin, a seven-year-old son of New Approach trained by Andreas Wohler. This veteran campagner won an Italian Group 1 two years ago and has been in fine form this season, but there will be no stud career for him as he was gelded before he won his first race.
