GER Lyons is urging breeders to register their horses for the Plus 10 bonus scheme.

In the space of just five weeks £190,000 in bonus prize money has been paid out to connections of Plus 10-qualified horses in Britain and Ireland, at a strike rate of 73% in relevant two-year-old races. Lyons trained two of those winners – Blood Moon and Argentero.

Lyons said: “Everyone seems a winner out of Plus 10, and ultimately, the end user – the owner – is the most important person in the game, and if the owner is getting looked after, if he is enjoying the reward, he’ll re-invest at the sale.”

Plus 10 is an almost €7 million bonus scheme which will see qualified two-year-old horses (and three-year-old horses from 2016) compete for €12,500 (£10,000) bonuses across their two and three-year-old campaigns.

The organisers of the bonus scheme have announced a one-off opportunity for owners and breeders to add previously unregistered 2014 foals to the scheme.

During May and June owners of 2014 foals not previously entered into Plus 10 can pay the first two registration stages – foal and yearling – together to make the horse eligible for the scheme. Both fees must be paid by June 30th.

This opportunity, which will not be repeated, only applies to 2014 foals for which there have been no previous registration payments made. Further information is available on the plus10bonus.com website.
