GALILEO Gold will stand at Tally-Ho Stud in Mullingar, Co Westmeath next year.

Trained by Hugo Palmer, the son of Paco Boy won last year’s 2000 Guineas at Newmarket before defeating the winners of the Irish and French equivalents in a vintage renewal of the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The colt also finished second in the Irish 2000 Guineas and Sussex Stakes in his classic season. At two, Galileo Gold won three times from five starts. He won his maiden over six furlongs in June and went on to land the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood before finishing third in the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp.

Galileo Gold raced in the colours of Qatari owners Al Shaqab, who also raced Tally-Ho Stud stallion Mehmas.

From the Green Desert sire line, Galileo Gold is out of a Galileo half-sister to dual Group 1 winning sprinter Goldream. He is also related to champion Montjeu, the sire of 31 Group 1 winners.

His stud fee will be set at a later date.
