FIVE well-known names in racing are moving on from their current roles.

Horse Racing Ireland is seeking a new chief financial officer to succeed Margaret Davin when she retires in September.

The position is one of the most important within HRI as the CFO works closely with chief executive Brian Kavanagh and director of racing Jason Morris.

Brian Kavanagh commented: “Margaret has been a stalwart and is one of the unsung heroes that keeps the show on the road. In addition to her finance duties here, she has served very effectively on various industry boards such as the Irish Equine Centre, RACE and currently the Irish Injured Jockeys Fund.”

In other HRI-related news, Noel Hayes has left his post as the Tote’s commercial director. Hayes joined the Tote from BoyleSports two years ago and, with his vast experience of the racing and betting industries, he is likely to secure to a new position shortly.

It emerged yesterday that Elaine Hatton is leaving Irish Thoroughbred Marketing to join Horse Sport Ireland. Hatton is ITM’s general manager and on June 7th she will take up the position of international marketing director with HSI.

The popular Sligo racecourse manager Brian Kennedy is stepping down from his position after 23 years in the job. Under the stewardship of Kennedy and his wife Agnes, Sligo developed into one of the most modern Irish provincial racecourses.

Finally, Rolline Kavanagh is returning to Ireland after two and a half years in Newmarket where she was international marketing executive for Tattersalls.
